Roland Corporation was established in 1972 by Mr. Ikutaro Kakehashi, the founder of Ace Electronics Industries. Ace Electronics Industries was well known in Japan as the effects pedal manufacturer was famous for "FUZZ MASTER" effect pedal under the ACE TONE brand.The Roland AF-100 BeeBaa is an evolution of the FUZZ MASTER and a more modern version of it.
Production of the "BeeBaa" began in the mid-1970s, and it was extremely popular.The "BeeBaa" has two functions: fuzz and treble booster. In addition, you can choose between two different sound characters for the fuzz.As for the fuzz sound, it incredibly distorts and changes tone completly.
To briefly describe the two types of fuzz sounds, one is a thick distortion. The other is a distortion with a characteristic high-frequency beep. It may be easier to understand if you think of the former as the BIG MUFF series and the latter as the FUZZ FACE series.The sound of the booster, as mentioned earlier, can be thought of as a clean booster.
There are four controls:
SUSTAIN, TONE, VOLUME for the FUZZ section, ADJ for the BOOSTER section.
Three switches:
EFFECT/NORMAL, FUZZ and TREBLE BOOSTER, and TONE SELECT for FUZZ.
I think this is an effect pedal that can be very competitive even in this day and age.
